Born out of a desire to challenge themselves musically, Mariachi El Bronx is the alter ego of Los Angeles punk band the Bronx. Conceived in 2006, the idea came about when the Bronx were asked to play an acoustic set and, rather than simply pare down their sound, they took their music in a whole new direction, moving away from hardcore and exploring Latin sounds. The band worked on material for the new project while the Bronx toured, and in 2009, Mariachi El Bronx released their eponymous debut. True to the form of their main gig, the band members followed up with a second self-titled album in 2011.
Two Gallants

The band consists of childhood friends Tyson Vogel and Adam Stephens who met on their elementary school playground at the age of 5. Despite an initial disagreement and ensuing scuffle over the supremacy of White Lion vs. White Snake, the two have been best friends ever since. They have been playing music together in some capacity since 1994, when their parents made the mistake of giving them both electric guitars for Christmas. Around 2002, the two college dropouts found themselves with some time on their hands and silence to kill; and so with an acoustic guitar and a trap set they formed TWO GALLANTS in the basement of the Vogel residence. In an ongoing unspoken competition to out do one another, the intervening years have seen the two-piece increase their volume and gear ten-fold. The bands' sound is somewhat of a syncretism of American old-timey roots music with the grunge and east bay punk of Tyson and Adam's formative years.
Making Movies

"Making Movies (and its producer, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos) shows us how deeply thought-out lyrics sound next to a rhythm track that somehow both propels and floats without violating the laws of physics." --Felix Contreras NPR
Making Movies is an American band based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Their music is a blend of Latin rhythms and indie-rock textures, with lyrics in both English and Spanish. They take melodies and guitar tones with an American indie-rock approach and lay them over afro-latino rhythms found in salsa, merengue, and cumbia. Their sophomore album, "A La Deriva," is produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos fame. The band consists of four members: Enrique Chi (guitar/vocals) Juan-Carlos Chaurand (percussion/keyboard), and Brendan Culp (drums) and Diego Chi (bass).
Making Movies has shared the stage with the likes of Los Lobos, Tennis, Ozomatli, Aterciopelados, Neon Indian, Delta Spirit, and Mariachi El Bronx among others.
