Wake Owl
Singer/songwriter Colyn Cameron of Wake Owl has been immersed in the world of music for the past ten years. Now based in Vancouver, BC and Portland, OR, Colyn was originally born and raised in southern California. "In the beginning I was mostly into rhyme stuff/hip hop," Colyn notes, "I wrote rap basically. I used to go around the school ground rapping my verses to whoever would listen. Then about seven years ago I picked up a guitar and taught myself basic stuff and immediately began writing songs."

After graduation Colyn trained in organic agriculture at Emerson College in England, worked on different farms throughout the UK, Germany, Chile and Canada, and traveled the world. Colyn found his journeys to be a catalyst for writing songs. "My writing process is always changing. I usually find the most inspiration after these long periods of not having too much of my own space, touring or traveling. A lot just tends to pour out rather quickly," he reflects.

Upon returning to Vancouver, Colyn spent some time playing in bands before deciding to record the songs he had written after his journey, and thus began the Wild Country EP. "With this EP I was really focused on just creating recordings I could be proud of and felt connected to as a group of songs. I wanted to capture and represent, in all its instrumentation and arrangement, what those songs mean to me," says Colyn. The result is a five-song EP that harvests raw, honest, emotion through Colyn's words and melodies.

The Wild Country EP will be made available nationwide via Vagrant Records on January 29th, 2013.
St Lux
St Lux
Saint Lux is a re-birth of the former band Sleep Dreamer; started in 2008 from members John McFarlane, John Moessner, Denis Sawatzky, and Tanner Laird. The band formed on the campus of Mid-America Nazarene University, where they attended school. Three of the original members have since graduated and with that so has their writing.

The music stopped. The applause started …

And for that brief moment, one song into their first show, the boys let out a sigh of relief and looked at each other as if to say “you know … I think this might work.” And it’s those seven words that have defined Dollar Fox ever since.

With a willingness to try anything once, this five-piece band from Kansas City is an amalgam of everything they love about music. It’s a philosophy that becomes abundantly clear every time they play. And with five members who share twice as many instruments between them, the first thing you’ll notice is this is a band that doesn’t like to sit still. It’s a band without rules, pretense or expectation. They play music they love … their music … and they play it the way they want to hear it. They don’t believe in labels or boundaries. They don’t try to be what they’re not. They’re just five musicians who respect the song as much as they respect each other. They’re ordinary men who write and perform songs with their hearts, their heads, their hands and feet. They play music because they have songs that need to be sung. Songs of love, loss, friendship and family. Sweetly crafted songs served with a dash of bitters. And they play this music with each other because they seem to be the only people in the world who understand exactly what these songs need. Most importantly, they’re always willing to see what doesn’t work to find what does.

Dollar Fox is Ethan Taylor, Justin Penney, Nick Dothage, Ryan Watkins and Tommy Donoho III. As of the writing of this bio, they play accordions, banjo, bass, drums, guitars, mandolin, piano, upright bass and vocals — though should the need arise, they’ll add more. They all play whichever instrument they feel like. They all sing. And they all make the music exactly what it is … theirs.
