These songs are a statement of freedom. In an age where we are in fear of losing our constitutional right of Free Speech, these tunes are written and performed as a call to all others who have a unique sound bubbling inside of them. Recently relocated to Austin, TX the music, along with their creator, will search for a new home. A home that suits not only their textures, but one that has the freedom to sustain their weight. All songs written, performed, and produced by John Dowey. Engineered, mixed, mastered by Tomas Perez.

Dead Bed Bad

Hello everyone. We are DEAD BED BAD. We are a group of musicians/artists lumbering along in Middle-America where everything is only as it seems on Television. Our intention is to bring you music that you can identify with and enjoy whenever and wherever you please. We've begun to record our first full length album entitled FIRE & WATER. On our facebook page and our blog (zeros and ones) we'll be releasing various tidbits revolving around the recording of the album.
In the band and on the album are: Jack Gue (voice/guitar), Lexi Schmidt (cello/voice/keys), Craig Wingate (drums/percussion), Brent Maness (acoustic gtr). Adam Voight (bass). Other friends of the band will frequent the album and live shows including Casey Maddox (artist/tattooer/singer/songwriter) and Gary Spencer (drummer/songwriter/artist) and more.
On this site you can expect to find mention of upcoming shows/tour dates, photos from various things, videos from various things, news blips, and artwork brought to you by Casey Maddox (album artwork coming soon). Also, various photographers, with whom We've become acquainted and enjoy their work, will be showcased on this site.
The recording of DIVE is taking place at The Meth Lab in the middle of nowhere, Missouri. Yes, litterally out in the sticks. Jack is engineering and producing. Mixing will be handled by a variety of talents in that field and we've yet to decide on a mastering guru.

Not A Planet

In the 60s and 70s, during the early days of rock and roll, innovation and originality was King. I recall frequenting record stores and head shops to get a peak at the latest and greatest music out there. As listeners, the discovery of new music was first and foremost word of mouth based.
Record store employees knew your name and your taste in music. They frequented concerts and were more concerned with turning you on to something new and cool. Now, in the age of the Internet and social media, stars appear to explode into fame and burn-out even faster. Instead of finding new music in the record stores, we seek the latest viral sensation.
Constantly pounding the pavement and touring, Not A Planet, a trio, is living the classic and endearing rock and roll story. They spend hours every day practicing and writing music. Tuning it to perfection and creating a harmonious noise intended for the masses. In between rehearsals and performances you can find them booking shows and taking on the responsibilities that most touring bands need a label to achieve. While they do not have the same big budget production as major label acts, they do have a stranglehold on the throat of rock and roll and an ability to summon the gods of rock to deliver electrifying concerts.
Nathan Corsi, lead vocals and guitar, has a voice that falls somewhere between the big wail and range of Robert Plant and the sensitivities of Jeff Buckley. His lead guitar work is tasty and thoughtful; Without any unnecessary notes, he plays to elicit the moment in the music. Drummer, Liam Sumnicht, is a show unto himself. From jumping up and crashing down on the cymbals in “Please Don’t Go,” to quiet taps on the hats in “Turn Me On,” he plays with flare, and dynamic conviction. Energy... Did I mention energy? Hold onto your seat. With hair flying, sticks twirling, and bass rumbling, this band feels every moment. This is true rock and roll.
Corsi is the primary songwriter for this group, and he gets by with a little help from his friends. Sumnicht adds infectious beats, and the three mold the songs together. By the time the song pops out on the other end of the assembly line that is Not A Planet, it has become a sound uniquely defined as Not A Planet. It is this metric that keeps them pushing for the perfect sound that could only come from the group as a whole; one that keeps them true and honest to their art but provides the listener and viewer with an unforgettable experience. The band works to deliver music that doesn’t have a time stamp, that when you play it 10 or 20 years from today it’s as fresh as the day it was made.
This is a band where each individual member’s talents and feelings transcends, creating a cohesiveness in sound, energy and performance. It’s a perfect blend of rock and folk with pop sensibilities. It leaves you wanting more, compelled and involved, and feeling like you, too, are Not A Planet.
